National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW) is an annual event dedicated to recognizing the vital contributions of truck drivers to the U.S. economy. Since its inception in 1988 by the American Trucking Associations (ATA), the week highlights the hard work and dedication of more than 3.5 million professional drivers who transport 70% of the nation’s goods.
Drivers are essential to keeping our supply chains running, and NTDAW provides an opportunity to publicly acknowledge their importance and commitment to making life easier for everyone. From delivering groceries to hospitals, schools, and businesses to ensuring that goods and supplies reach their destinations safely and on time, their contributions are truly invaluable.
During this week, companies, communities, and individuals show their appreciation by hosting events, sending thank-you messages, offering small gifts, or simply giving a shout-out on social media. These gestures are a way to say “thank you” to truck drivers for their long hours on the road and time away from family who often face challenging weather conditions and the responsibility of navigating large, heavy vehicles across great distances.
NTDAW takes place in the second week of September every year and runs from September 15 to 21 in 2024. It’s a time to honor and celebrate truck drivers’ hard work and recognize the vital role of these unsung heroes of the road who keep the U.S. economy strong, and communities connected.
Let’s all make a conscious effort to thank a truck driver during this special week. Your appreciation can go a long way in acknowledging their hard work and dedication.
